# FAQ

A compilation of questions frequently asked to our support team. If you still have a question, do not hesitate to join our support server and ask.

## How do I add this bot to my server?

Please view our Getting Started page for information on how to invite BitBot to your server, and perform basic configuration.

{% content-ref url="/pages/-MIexVZeAXtshxtaS-sB" %}
[Getting Started](/)
{% endcontent-ref %}

## I have added the bot, but some or all users can not see any commands in the slash menu.

In order for members of a server to use slash commands (otherwise known as application commands), they must have the `Use Application Commands` permission. We recommend enabling this permission for the everyone role so that all your users can use our commands.

## How can I set a channel to receive news from the bot?

To set a channel for BitBot to send the latest cryptocurrency news, you must use the `news configure` command. View the documentation:

{% content-ref url="/pages/-Me3DZwMChUQ79pS0A2G" %}
[news configure](/commands/configuration/news/news-configure)
{% endcontent-ref %}

## I have set a news channel, alert, or follow; however it is not sending anything.

Discord bot users function similarly to all other users on Discord. They must have permissions to send messages in any given channel in order to send news, alerts, or prices. Please check if the bot has all necessary permissions to do so.

## How do I add the ticker bots on the side?

BitBot provides a variety of bots which mirror cryptocurrency prices to create a ticker look on your discord server. Invite links for these bots can be found at <https://bitbot.tools/tickers>.

## Can I have more than five alerts or follows?

Yes! As of January 2022, we offer subscription plans that allow you to increase alert/follow capacity in a server past five. <https://bitbot.tools/premium>

# Explained

BitBot offers a variety of "ticker" bots. These bots have changing nicknames which mirror the price of a cryptocurrency. Having these bots installed on your server creates a ticker look on your server's member list.

## Demo

![Price tickers for nine cryptos on a Discord member list](/files/-MeBH_3Gb8t1oDI5PIv-)

# Configuring Colors

BitBot's Ticker bots will change colors (green/red) to illustrate positive or negative price trends.

### Configuration

* Make sure that your ticker bots have the `Manage Roles` permission.
* The bot(s) will automatically create roles called "Ticker Red" and "Ticker Green" and attempt to move them as high on the role hierarchy as they can.
 * If the role colors do not reflect, you must manually move them above the role that overrides their color, or change the Ticker Bot's highest role to have no color.

All monthly and annual subscriptions can be cancelled at any time by visiting your Premium Portal at <https://bitbot.tools/premium/portal>. Upon cancellation, you will have access to your subscription benefits until the end of the billing period, and your access to benefits will end thereafter.

#### Refund Policy

We do not offer refunds for any fees incurred for subscription to a Premium service. Once a fee is processed, your account will gain access to all benefits for the full billing period without possibility of a refund upon cancellation.

If you think you were overcharged or otherwise financially affected by a system malfunction, please contact our support team for individual investigation of the case.

#### Payment Policy

For recurring fees, your credit card or payment method will be charged automatically at the start of every new billing period. If we do not receive payment from your provider, you agree to pay all amounts due for the services used. We reserve the right to charge outstanding dues to any payment method that you have on file with us, and to also take all steps necessary to collect such amounts, without limitation to legal action.

For declined charges on active recurring subscriptions, your subscription will remain active while we attempt to retry charging your payment method on file. After multiple failures over a period of time, your subscription will be cancelled.

#### Usage Restrictions

You may not use a purchased subscription to re-sell, rent, or share benefits to other users. All benefits from your subscription plan are strictly for personal use only. We reserve the right to deny service or access to subscription benefits to users without possibility of refund.

# Privacy Policy

BitBot *("BitBot", "we", "us", "our")* values your privacy; accordingly we have put together this privacy policy to ensure that our users can be aware of how their information is used by our services. By using any services offered by BitBot, you agree to the policy stated below.

### Data Collection

BitBot only collects and stores personal information if absolutely necessary to the function of our services. This includes (primarily but not only), data from Discord such as internal identifiers to power server customizations for our bot.

Our data is only stored for as long as it is necessary to provide service. All data about a server is scheduled to be deleted upon the Discord bot leaving the server, however we cannot guarantee uptime or proper functionality of the feature during such event. If at anytime you have questions about the data stored about your server, or would like to request that data to be wiped, you may open a support ticket on the Discord support server or send an email to <info@bitbot.tools>.

We will never share any information stored with any third-parties unless required to do so by law enforcement.

### Billing Information

BitBot offers various subscription based Premium plans for users that want to unlock additional features. Payment and usage of these subscriptions are subject to our privacy policy.

#### Payment Information

Payment information that you use to purchase our subscription based products is handled by Stripe, Inc. and is subject to their terms of service and policies. We can not directly access the sensitive payment data (eg. credit card numbers) on the payment methods that you link to your Stripe customer profile, and can only charge them as necessary.

#### Personal Information

Stripe collects email addresses, names, and zip codes for users that pay for a subscription - we do not store this data. We reserve the right to access the email address provided if needed for billing contact.

### Logging

Some unhandled and unidentifiable Discord bot exceptions will be logged and viewable to our development team in order to ensure that bugs are identified and fixed as quick as possible.

Error logs may contain identifying information about the Discord server or user if it is relevant to the origin of the exception. These logs will be deleted as soon as the development team deems they are no longer needed. They may also be deleted upon request in our [Discord support server](https://bitbot.tools/support).
